Directions From the A1 at Newcastle, head west onto the A69 and follow the signs for Hexham. At the Styford/Brocksbushes roundabout (just before reaching Corbridge) join the A68 and head South. Continue on the A68 for approx 7 miles and on reaching Kiln Pit Hill turn left at the sign for Whittonstall. Travel 0.9 miles down this road turn right into the entrance of a private farm road, traveling through two large stone pillars. Follow this road for approx 1 mile and just before you reach the crossroads turn right through some wooden gates into the entrance. This leads directly to Highfield Cottage. It is quite hidden by foliage so keep an eye out for it. For the B&B entrance, continue to the crossroads, turn right then first right again, through wooden black/green gates and follow the drive up to the main house.

Ramblers and cyclists will enjoy exploring the heather moorlands with rugged uplands which includes some of the highest, wildest and most beautiful scenery in the country.Hamsterley Forest provides miles of lovely forest walks leading to High Force; England's largest waterfall.
We are 5 miles from De Vere Slaley Hall and 10 miles from Matfen Hall both offering excellent golf; swimming and spa facilties as well as a "Go Ape" adventure course at Matfen.
The historic market town of Hexham, dominated by its majestic Abbey offers an abundance of amenities (including cinema; theatre; major supermarkets) only 14 miles and the pretty village of Corbridge renowned for its specialist shops and quaint tea rooms is 11 miles.
